Sam Chuvelle models himself on the private detective portrayed on screen by Humphrey Bogart, solving crime whilst being seduced by classy dames. Switch San Francisco for a grubby, polluted mill town in West Yorkshire and the dames for burly armed women in curlers and you’re getting close to what it’s really like in Heckley.
